Your coverage options, explained.

There's more than one way to get covered. Here's a plain-English breakdown of what you can shop for.

ACA Marketplace Plans

Federally subsidized plans available during Open Enrollment (Nov 1 – Jan 15) or after a qualifying life event. Many people pay less than they expect once subsidies are applied.

  • Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum tiers
  • Subsidies based on household income
  • Covers pre-existing conditions, no exceptions
  • Open Enrollment runs Nov 1 – Jan 15

Off-Exchange / Private Plans

Plans purchased directly from carriers outside the federal marketplace. Often more flexible on network and benefits, and a strong fit for people who don't qualify for subsidies.

  • More carrier and network options
  • Year-round availability in many cases
  • Short-term and fixed-benefit plans available
  • Good fit when income is above subsidy thresholds

When can I enroll?

Open Enrollment runs November 1 through January 15 each year. Outside of that window, you can still enroll if you have a qualifying life event. Losing a job, getting married, having a baby, or moving to a new state all count. Stevan can help you figure out if you qualify.

What affects my premium?

Age, location, tobacco use, plan tier, and household income all factor in. Subsidies can significantly reduce your monthly cost if your income qualifies. The only way to know your real number is to run it — that's what Stevan does for free.
